Robert Lutyens sofa
A direct copy of the original
- which now lives in Candia Lutyen's own home and
is in as good condition today, sixty years later,
as it was when it was made - the sofa has made
use of the same techniques and traditional methods
of upholstery. As a result, it too should weather
several generations of use, as a testament
to the quality of yesterday that is rarely seen
today.
This sofa was designed during the
early thirties by Candia's father Robert
Lutyens for his own use. Sir Edwin Lutyens only
son, Robert was in turn an interior designer,
architect, journalist and artist. For several
years, towards the end of Sir Edwin's life they
worked together and collaborated on several buildings,
most notably Middleton Park.
The piece illustrated
is upholstered in black leather. Available
in any suitable fabric and clients required dimensions.
